With the Games in Rio fast approaching, the Nigeria U23 coach has been left frustrated by the Citizens’ attitude towards the youngster’s release for the national side
Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia is unsure of Kelechi Iheanacho’s availability for the men’s football event of the 2016 Olympic Games having been left frustrated by Manchester City.
Iheanacho, who is widely expected to spearhead Nigeria’s bid for gold in Brazil, has indicated interest in playing for his country but with the Citizens delaying confirmation of his release, Siasia is complaining bitterly.
“The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has written several letters to [Manchester City] wanting to know when the player would be released for the Games in Brazil but as I speak with you the club has not replied,” Siasia told SportingLife.
“So for now I cannot confidently tell you that Iheanacho would be available for the Olympics. Although we are not relenting on the issue as the NFF is fighting tooth and nail to ensure we have our best players for the Olympics.
This is not just funny at all!
Like seriously it’s not, maybe they just want to frustrate him a little…
